Meet Camille

I’ve called Koh Samui home since 1999 and have been conducting weddings here since 2018.
I create personal ceremonies in English, German, French, and Dutch for couples from around the world.

I Gave Myself One Year

I arrived on Koh Samui in December 1999 to work as a dive instructor. I gave myself one year to see whether I could make a living here. If it didn't work out, at least I could say I'd tried.

But within a few months, things started to come together. I met the woman who would become my wife and found somewhere to live. I bought a motorbike instead of renting one. I even bought a television, so I wasn't going out every evening anymore.

Somewhere along the way, Samui stopped feeling temporary. I became a PADI Course Director in 2003. My wife was born and raised on Samui, and we built our life here together. We also raised our three children on the island.

What started as a one-year plan became home.

I Never Planned to Become a Celebrant

In 2018, a former diving instructor candidate of mine was preparing to leave Koh Samui. He had also been working as a wedding celebrant. I asked about taking over that side of his work.

With his agreement, I inherited his contacts and some of the ceremony material he had developed. There was no guarantee it would lead anywhere. I was simply looking for something different from alongside diving.

My first ceremony was at Anantara Lawana, with only the couple and me. That made things slightly easier, although I was still nervous. As more weddings followed, the nerves disappeared, and something unexpected happened.

I realized how much I enjoyed doing them.

For several years, ceremonies remained something I did alongside my other work. That suited me perfectly at the time.

The Details You Learn Along the Way

At first, I thought conducting a ceremony was mainly about what you said. Experience taught me that the small details can matter just as much.

You learn when to step aside so the photographer gets the right shot. You learn how couples should hold their rings so they show in the photographs. And you quickly learn why having tissues nearby is always a good idea.

Speaking became another part of the job I learned to enjoy. I never particularly enjoyed speaking in public before becoming a celebrant. Weddings changed that.

Today, I genuinely enjoy standing in front of a couple and their guests. Sometimes an emotional moment needs a few seconds of silence. At other times, a little humor can release the tension.

I've also learned how much happens around the ceremony itself. Photographers, videographers, planners, and venue teams all see the day differently. Understanding how they work helps everything happen naturally around you.

After more than 150 ceremonies, many of these things have become second nature. But every wedding still has its own rhythm.

Giving Weddings More Room to Grow

For years, weddings fitted comfortably alongside the rest of my working life. I had a full-time job and wasn't looking to turn celebrant work into something bigger.

That changed in 2026. For the first time, I could give the wedding side of my work much more attention. The number of ceremonies I conducted almost doubled compared with the previous year.

I also started sharing more of my work on Instagram and began building this website. That growth has opened another direction for my work.

Today, I also help couples create intimate weddings and elopements on Koh Samui. The focus remains deliberately personal, with smaller celebrations and carefully chosen details.

Personal Ceremonies for Couples from Around the World

I've conducted weddings and vow renewals at resorts, private villas, and beaches across Koh Samui. No two ceremonies feel quite the same. Some bring plenty of laughter, while others become unexpectedly emotional.

Experience hasn't given me a formula. It's taught me to listen, read the moment, and adapt. Your ceremony should still sound like you.

Dutch is my native language. I also conduct ceremonies in English, German, and French. Whatever language we use, the ceremony should feel natural and personal.
